1 Quote. 1 Reflection. 1 Question.
“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.”
Life is a series of trade-offs.
You choose to go to the gym or to watch another Netflix episode.
You choose to wake up at 5:30 or to hit the snooze a few more times.
You choose to order one more drink or to go home instead.
You choose to go to the party or to study for the exam.
Successful people understand these trade-offs and use disciple to achieve their goals.
Navy SEAL and best-selling author Jocko Willink wakes up at 4:30 am every day.
Celebrity and entrepreneur Rob Dyrdek does a 20-minute meditation every morning.
Russian writer Leo Tolstoy allowed himself to only visit brothels twice a month.
Whether it's adding something to your life or subtracting something from it, you need disciple.
I've been trying to develop the disciple to drink less. I have had a hard time with just having one drink. 1 drink turns to 2 and 2 turn to 6 for me. This harms me physically, mentally, and emotionally—things that I have been thinking a lot about.
Like me, you know where you need more discipline. All you need to do is acknowledge it and get started.
Everyone lives a life of disciple or disappointment.
Examine your circle, who makes you more disciplined and how can you be around them more often?
