1 Reflection.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Today is the holiday of all holidays. We should enjoy every minute of it with the people we love. 

This week I found it fitting to write about how we can maximize this time. I wanted to find a quote about simplicity because during the holiday season people are often blinded by the unrealistic expectations their families or friends place on them. 

You may be experiencing one of these scenarios:

I have 3 houses to go to on Christmas. 

I have to find a 12-inch Godzilla toy for my nephew 

I have to make the perfect ham to impress my mother-in-law. 

I have to come up with a unique caption for my Instagram post. 

I have to have the house spotless before everyone arrives for dinner. 


Slow down, and take a breath. You don't HAVE to do any of these things. Save yourself the stress and worry. It doesn't mean you shouldn't care, but rather you shouldn't let these trivial things make or break your holiday. 

Focus on the laughs, stories, and being present around your loved ones. Listen to the rambling of your aunt, and laugh when your dad tells the inappropriate joke you've heard for the 50th time. These moments don't last forever. 

I haven't had Christmas with my family for 4 years now because I've lived abroad. Admittedly, I wish I spent more time hanging out with my family and less time refreshing my Twitter feed. Be present today and again, Merry Christmas.
