1 Quote. 1 Reflection. 1 Question.
1 Quote.
"At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a child, a friend, or a parent."
-From: Barbara Bush
-Source: Commencement Address at Wellesley College, 1990
1 Reflection.
Barbara Bush was the First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. Her husband was George H.W. Bush, not to be confused with their son George W. Bush.
Barbara's words should be tattooed on us, forever reminding us of what this life is truly about. No one will remember your title at work, the dollars in your bank account, the car you drove, the house you lived in, the vacations you took, or the pictures you posted.
You will be remembered for your interactions with people. They will remember your smile, your laugh, your curiosity, your service, your consistency, your loyalty, your promises, and your values.
Time is one of the few things we can't get back and it goes by quickly if you are living right. You think you have a lot of time left but no one really knows. You may face death tomorrow, and there's not much you can do about it.
Therefore, you should live as if you are dying each day because that's what's happening. Each day you get older, and one step closer to death. However, it should be something to lean into, not run away from.
Plan the cross-country road trip with your friends.
See your grandpa in the nursing home.
Watch your nephew on a busy Friday night.
Cook your mom's favorite breakfast with her.
Play football with your adult siblings in the front yard.
At the end of your life, whenever that may be, these are the moments people will talk about.
1 Question.
Think of a deceased loved one, what is your favorite memory with them?

"All the real heroes are not storybook combat fighters. Every single man in the army plays a vital role. So don't ever let up. Don't ever think that your job is unimportant. What if every truck driver decided that he didn't like the whine of the shells and turned yellow and jumped headlong into a ditch? That cowardly bastard could say to himself, 'Hell, they won't miss me, just one man in thousands.' What if every man said that? Where in the hell would we be then? No, thank God, Americans don't say that. Every man does his job. Every man is important." -George S. Patton
