1 Quote. 1 Reflection. 1 Question.
"Think of three Things, whence you came, where you are going, and to whom you must account."
From: -Benjamin Franklin
Source: -Poor Richard's Almanack
Founding Father Benjamin Franklin wore many hats—statesman, author, publisher, scientist, inventor, and diplomat—and he was successful no matter which one he had on. What's even more impressive in my opinion, is that he wore these hats during different stages of his life.
How did Franklin manage to balance and sustain all of these careers? I bet one of the reasons is the quote above. Amidst the busyness of his life, I think he was able to center himself with these 3 questions:
How far have I come?
Where is the current path leading me?
Who do I need in my life to get to where I want to be?
These questions can help us in our relationships, careers, health, personal finance, etc. What I like about these questions is that they are fluid.
Our lives have different stages which means that things change. Our goals, our health, our friends, our interests, they all change.
Change is never easy, and to think of it, Franklin himself saw incredible change around him. He literally witnessed and actively took part in forming a new country. So if these 3 questions can help Franklin manage through change surely they can help us too.
Finding a tribe is difficult. What sort of changes do you need to make to ensure you have a solid tribe to help you through your next transition?
